Operational area: Department of Hematology, Oncology, Hemostaseology, and Stem Cell Transplantation (Dept. Of Medicine IV) - Lab Group Medyouf (Infos)

Working hours: Full-time 100% (38,5 hours/week)

Duration/Term of employment: Permanent

Start date: As soon as possible

Remuneration/Rates: with a bachelor's degree EG 11 (TV-L)
                                     with completed training as an MTA/MTL EG 10 (TV-L)

 

About the Lab

The Tumor Microenvironment and Immunity Group, led by Prof. Hind Medyouf at University Hospital RWTH Aachen, is seeking a Research Laboratory Manager (f/m/d) to support the operational, technical, and organizational management of a research-oriented laboratory in the field of tumor biology.

The position will actively conduct research focused on hematological malignancies and metastases, oversee daily laboratory operations, and handle critical organizational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental Responsibilities:
    • Overseeing the development and implementation of research protocols
    • Conducting and assisting with mouse experiments
    • Supporting and training laboratory members in advanced experimental techniques, including multispectral flow cytometry, single-cell omics, and 3D models
    • Supporting collaborative efforts and coordination with core facilities
  • Laboratory Management:
    • Implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of digital laboratory management systems (e.g. ELN / eLab)
    • Coordination of laboratory ordering, inventory management, and logistics
    • Ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor's degree in the field of biomedicine, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a comparable scientific discipline with a medical focus; alternatively, completed training as an MTA / MTL.
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory coordination, management, or senior technical roles within a research environment (minimum 2 years)
    • Proven ability to work with murine experimental models is a must
    • Strong scientific understanding of complex experimental workflows
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a research team
    • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
    • Very good command of English
  • Additional expertise in any of these advanced experimental techniques would be considered a plus:
    • Multispectral flow cytometry
    • Single-cell omics
    • iPSC culture and derived models
    • Functional CRISPR screening
    • Knowledge of German or willingness to acquire it
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Strong communication skills
