Full Professor (W2) in audiology

Faculty of Medicine/Uniklinik RWTH Aachen

We are inviting applicants for the position in the area of audiology. The starting date is as soon as possible. The professorship is associated with the lead of the teaching and research area of audiology in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Phoniatrics, and Pediatric Audiology. The applicant should have an internationally visible and recognized research profile in the field of audiology or pediatric audiology, which should be evidenced by high-ranking publications and successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding. One research focus should be on hearing rehabilitation. Special expertise in the area of hearing implants or machine learning in audiology is desired, preferably complemented by clinical experience. Active participation in the teaching at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Phoniatrics, and Pediatric Audiology, as well as in the degree programs for speech-language pathology, is expected. There is an opportunity for clinical work if clinically suited and interested.

Interdisciplinary scientific co-operation with other departments and clinics of the Medical School, with the research areas of the RWTH Aachen University including SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344, KFO 5011, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, CIOABCD, JARA, IZKF AACHEN, with the Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBMT) and with other technical disciplines such as the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics are encouraged. In addition, an active commitment in the degree programs of the Medical Faculty is also expected.

The requirements include a doctoral degree and additional research experience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements relevant to the field gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. Profound teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
